Super Mario Galaxy Film Trailer Arrives, Introducing New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voice Cast
The collaboration between Nintendo and Illumination unveiled the initial complete preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. It was showcased in a dedicated Nintendo presentation that highlighted the soon-to-release cartoon movie.
The follow-up to the 2023 hit film The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will send Mario to the far corners of the galaxy. There, he will encounter a fresh princess character and a challenging new adversary in Bowser Jr., the offspring of the Koopa King.
A Cosmic Adventure Based on Classic Games
In the vein of the Wii-era games that act as its source material, Mario will depart from the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to travel across the galaxy. During his grand adventure, he will encounter once more some recognizable characters, for instance the Luma, a popular character from the previous film.
However, it seems Mario and his brother Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's angry little boy, who seemingly commands metallic abilities. Worth mentioning, the teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not solely focused on Galaxy-inspired imagery; it also contains hints to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Celebrity Voice Actors Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers
The feature will feature once again of the initial voice actors, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Fresh faces in the lineup for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will bring to life Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to play Bowser Jr. It was announced by the CEO of Illumination, Chris Meledandri.
A Significant Period for Mario
The upcoming Mario film is planned to debut near the 40th anniversary of the initial Super Mario Bros. release. In addition to the movie, 2026 looks set to be a significant year for Mario and his allies.
Nintendo has a set of three fresh titles publicly declared for the upcoming year, such as Mario Tennis Fever, a Switch 2 edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a latest Yoshi adventure game titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Premiere Date Announced
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is scheduled to hit theaters on April 3, 2026.
