Explore Twenty-Nine Fresh Cards from Magic: The Gathering's TMNT Expansion (Including a Commander-Style Precon Deck!)

Everyone's beloved pizza-loving heroes are arriving to the popular trading card game. The well-known TCG's company, Wizards of the Coast, revealed a much-awaited Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles collaboration at a special event held at New York Comic Con. Could this be a exciting addition or simply another crossover cash grab? Let you be the judge.

Take a look here at all the details revealed from the Magic x Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles collaboration, including some useful context. All items listed here releases on March 6, 2026, with one exception — the Pizza Bundle arrives a couple of weeks after on March 27th.

Magic x TMNT: Core Set Reveals

Before we get into the many unique products and bundles on offer, we’ll examine at all the cards from the core Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set that were revealed by the developers. Play boosters for the expansion are set at $6.99 per pack, while Collector Boosters should run $37.99 per pack.

Let's unpack a couple of shell-shocking features. To begin, there's a new mechanic called Sneak, inspired by the pre-existing Ninjutsu ability, in which gamers can cheat big creatures onto the battlefield when an attacking creature isn’t blocked. The key change in this case is that Sneak can affect non-creature spells too. The designers also took the opportunity to refine the mechanic a bit (It counts as playing a spell, as opposed to the older mechanic). The original ability isn't going away, but chances are players will encounter the new mechanic in future sets from now on.

“If we ever were to return to the Kamigawa plane, it’s possible we’d use Ninjutsu since that's where it originated and it is iconic of that world,” an experienced game designer explained. “But in other settings, since the mechanics are smoother and the new ability is what's going to be Standard-legal, it’s probable we’ll use Sneak.”

That second variant of the leader Turtle, Sewer Samurai card, is among four special cards with special art designed specifically for the expansion by Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles co-creator the co-creator.

Additionally, if you're shocked by the rules text on Turtles Forever card, which lets you play cards outside of your main deck, so was I. But according to the developers, that's now a legal card in every format of Magic.

Anyway, here are the extremely bizarre land cards with full art from the TMNT set:

As per the company’s existing guidelines, these cards are all legal in Magic’s Standard play. Developers state they were careful to make sure the new cards and mechanics meshed well with other Standard sets like Edge of Eternities.

“I led the design for over a year and we were aware it would be Standard-legal and what other sets were going to be alongside it in Standard,” the designer commented. “We designed to ensure that they work well with certain expansions like Edge of Eternities.”

As an instance, both TMNT and Edge of Eternities feature a Izzet strategy focused on artifact cards.

“They combine to offer the pieces for a fun Standard-legal deck,” he added.

Commander Deck: Turtle Power!

After declining to create any Commander precons for the Spider-Man set and the upcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender expansions, the company is reversing course with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It’s only a single precon, but it does come with six distinct legendary cards who could work as your commander depending on how you combine them (five cards include a unique partner ability called “Character Select” that lets you start with two commanders in the command zone instead of just one). Take a look for yourself:

The Turtle Power precon is set at $69.99, although the price may rise due to demand. Sources indicated that it includes 43 brand-new cards altogether, which means an additional 37 TMNT-themed cards besides the six legendary commanders shown earlier. (Calculating roughly, this suggests about 20 reprinted cards if we assume the precon comes with 37 lands.)

What will the TMNT version of the iconic Sol Ring look like? Fans must wait and see.

TMNT Bundle (Standard Edition)

As per usual, the company is selling a bundle. This one costs $69.99 and includes the listed items:

Pizza-Themed Bundle

This is a unique concept for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set, mostly in that it comes in a box resembling a pizza delivery box. Every Pizza Bundle costs $99.99 and includes the following:

For those curious about the “Pizza Bundle promo card” is, it’s basically a reprinted older card with all-new TMNT art. The team showed an example for the popular Magic card Dark Ritual depicting Splinter sprinkling black licorice pieces onto a pizza. In total, there are six different pizza promos available.

The Pizza Bundle launches a couple of weeks later than the main set on March 27, 2026.

Turtle Team-Up

Lastly, the developers are doing something new with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as in line with its ongoing effort to create Magic game products specifically for beginners. Here, Turtle Team-Up is a special set of decks that allow two players join forces to face a “Boss” deck that pilots itself.

The concept here that each Boss card grants unique powers to the creature cards included in the boss deck. The Boss automatically casts one other card per turn, and you’ll start off fighting {one Boss|
